Nice plugin @mplavala , just tested it and it works perfectly on my site. Might be a default install for me too!

I have asked Dmytro if he could add it to the extras and it seems to be so!

Wow, nice webpconverter plugin! I'm feeling very stupid right now. I made something like that for myself before but it converted the images to webp when uploaded in kcfinder. But it used this as a library installed via composer. I really didn't know imagewebp() was a thing 😕 .

I'm for sure gonna use this 😃

OT: My most used plugins are Formlister, MultiTv, PageBuilder, Doclister (DLmenu and such), YAMS, IF and sometimes ajaxsearch. I modified PageBuilder to have different tabs in each block for multilanguage sites, i could share it if someone is interested.

I'm so happy with that webp plugin and the way it works.

AjaxSearch I used to have on my just a couple of my sites but now none.
It worked pretty oke but the development was abandoned for such a long time.
I will test evoSearch when I would need a search in one of my sites.

My next multilang projects will use my simple Snippet:

Only downside is you need to copy pages and move them over but does have allot of upsides too..

I no longer use AjaxSearch either. It did have a few security issues from time to time so I stopped using it because I was not comfortable with it. For search simplicity I plug in Google programmable search sometimes.

+1 PackageManager, though mainly using the Extras module now.

Simple but useful. I use it for quick access to various custom system settings.

Slightly off topic but I tend to turn off 'global tabs', I just end up with far to many tabs and it gets confusing to me.

MrB fourroses666 introduced me to ClientSettings, I think this is a good upgrade for ContactSettings.
I too use a slightly modified version of PackageManager that is loaded with my installs to easily load custom or modified Extras, mutiTVs, etc.

MrB At first I also turned off 'global_tabs' but I started to like it allot and would like my clients to use it too. Just explain them its the same as browser tabs but then in the manager. The orange dot when you didn't save your change yet. Anyway, its a personal chose.
Didn't know about ContactSettings but it looks like ClientSettings is about the same just some more Layout options.

@risingisland I think you can use the install on the Extras page and don't need PackageManager.

@mplavala Thanks for the heads up. I didn't had any notable issues. Really like it works that simple just by installing and go 🙂 My 1.8MB banner is now 230kb and does look as good as!

@Graffx Design and @esebob: I'm really glad you like the plugin. If you intend to use it in production, please note that the following:

The plugin uses PHPs built-in imagewebp() function to generate the image, which requires libgd. All servers I have encountered in the wild so far (including shared hosting) satisfied this. If libgd fails to generate the image, then the plugin just outputs the path to the original image, so this is fail-safe.
The plugin uses PHPs built-in DOMDocument to parse the HTML and replace image paths. DOMDocument has some known minor bugs, such as this one when it outputs closure of void HTML elements. This means that if you have <source> tag in your HTML, DOMDocument closes it with </source>, which is strictly speaking not valid. But browsers do not care and display everything as should. I hope this gets fixed in DOMDocument, fixing it seems to only require extending the list of HTML void elements.

Using PHPs built-in functions was my choice when developing the plugin as I wanted to keep it as minimal as possible, without adding extra dependencies or libraries. This is because I admin few pages on shared hosting, where I can not even run Composer, because not enough memory.
But hey, it works.

The reason I still use PackageManager, and have it install with Evo, is because I can already have several extras, that may have been personalized, or had langs added, etc., already listed and ready to install, without having to upload them later.
Just a personal preference.

Ah oke, I think that is possible too with Extras using your own package thow.

Graffx Design I know that via Extras, you can upload your own package. I see you can also create your own repository on the ModX-Store site.
What I do with PackageManager is, include it during install as well as have a folder "assets/packages/" with several extras in this folder. In this way, I do not need to upload or download, or login to the store. My packages are already there and ready. It may be a bit different, but works nicely for me.

mplavala No. These are usually either custom packages or maybe a package that exists in Extras, but I have had to manually update (missing a lang that is needed, apply a fix or pull that was never added, etc.). Or, I have a MultiTV or other that is just quicker for me to include in this folder at the time up install/upload, that add later.

I am just now trying to update my repositories on GitHub now, as I havent been keeping that area very updated in quite some time. 😅

mplavala There is also this Module, MyGitX, that can list Repositories, I may try to incorporate this into PackageManager.

risingisland Thanks for the heads-up. I don't know whether there will be need for extending PackageManager. I mean, after all, there will be need to create some ecosystem of evo cms extras and so I am hoping that some reasonable system is going to be included in core evo, so maybe thatwould be a solution.
@Graffx Design do you know whether something like this is being prepared and what the future holds for us? E.g. I have recently done a fresh local install of evo 3.0.2 and it does not even include some minimal template or something, so I was considering making a package that would be some form of frontend theme (like the ones for Wordpress) for easy and fast projects based on evo. But overall I think that working extras repository is these days a must for a cms and having one would greatly increase the appeal of evo.

I doubt there will be further development on PackageManager.
Dmytro is building a starter template based on bootstrap 5 and later on a template with more functionality's based on Laravel. The future is going to be different like installing Extras with Console and not the way we are used to.
As basic Front-end developer I probably need to step up the game.

Maybe @Dmi3yy can tell a bit more about the future plans.

Webp you only need to install from Extras and it will do the magic. For background-images you need to add some code because that doesn't use <img>.

MrB @nick0 - There is not a lot to CacheClean. Just install the plugin. There are a couple of configuration settings but it should work out of the box. It is designed as a 'backstop' just to keep the cache size under control over the long term.

I am also on 1.4.x. Was going to jump to 2.0 but not sure it is worth it. I cannot easily go to 3.0 yet as too many of my sites have member logins and use webusers, which I believe are not part of 3.0 so it will have to wait until I can put the time in to figure out a migration strategy.

Agreed on the updating. To me, I am not sure if it is necessary. Nor do I understand why v2 was around for 3 minutes before jumping to v3. I don't care about Lavarel - I am not a programmer. Evo has worked fine for me without Lavarel and with the handy snippets etc over many years. I am in the "if it ain't broke don't fix it camp" and don't understand the need for speedy development at the expense of backward compatability and migration challenges.
