whoops... late to the party... new Evo?

Hi All,

I've been in the Evo wilderness (figuratively speaking) and just got slightly up to speed with the new direction via those two threads in this forum. Oh oh. But it's in good hands if @Pathologic is driving it.

Am I correct in thinking that all the main users here will now be using "github.com/evocms-community/evolution" from 1.4.18 / 3.1.11 on? Is that the general consensus?

Unfortunately I updated a 1.4.15 site through the Manager Dashboard link yesterday to 1.4.17 and now I can't login to that site for some reason (facepalming).

Is the way to fix that broken 1.4.17 site to manually update to the evocms-community 1.4.18 Evo? Any known issues in doing so?

ps bonus points for translating what the Russian text says in that 1.4.17 background image. I presume it has anti-war sentiment but it would be nice to stick with the nature theme / Optional English text for the login page.

nick0 Hi Nick, backup as much as you can and try using the steps described by Pathologic here: https://forum.evo.im/d/234-v3111-ce-release that could help. Other option that comes to my mind is to download the database and all files, purge all data from the server, reinstall 1.4.15 and restore the database/assets. Then you can use those steps to upgrade to 1.4.18

P.S.: it says "Russian warship, go fuck yourself!"

Well, thats the one which will get updated more often while I don't see this happen in the other Fork due to circumstances. If you would like to see if there are updates on your dashboard you could change Plugin Updater / Configuration tab and change version to: evocms-community/evolution

I can remember to have "somekind" of issues like that too (can't login) on EVO 1.4.x updated versions.
What I do when such things happen I try to re-update to the latest version and remove cache folder files.
You could also try an other browser. I always seem to be able to update somehow eventually. Sometimes its the PHP version giving issues.

Excellent idea, thanks. I reinstalled back to 1.4.15 (manual file upload via ftp) - that got things working as they were before the 1.4.17 update mess. Back in business on 1.4.15 = you beauty.

Nice, great tip. I made that change in the Updater plugin and the 1.4.18 update showed on the Dashboard.
After manually downloading a backup of the working 1.4.15 files and database just in case, I did the 1.4.18 "Dashboard Update" and success - everything is working fine in the 1.4.18 updated site. Excellent, Many thanks.

hi @mplavala - you always sound in the know 🙂 . have you been able to upgrade older evo1.4.x to evo1.4.18 and get them working on php8? we can't. they will upgrade - all of them - but none will work on php8 - same as the other threads from months back.

on the browser we just see "Error" - (evo1.4.18 and php8) . and the /manager works fine and it has a system event for:

If you are able to choose PHP versions (switch 7.4 and 8.x) in the controlepanel of your host you could try and disable some plugins on your site to see which one is giving you issues. AFAIK the EVO system 1.4.8 works on PHP8. Some plugins needs to be updated.
