SimpleFiles unknown server error

I'm getting around to sticking some plugins and things on my own website. Nothing major apart from it's a v1.4 which has been updated to v3 over time.

I've been unsuccessful in getting either SimpleFiles or SimpleGallery to work and I'm stuck as to where to look to try and fix it.

With SimpleFiles I'm getting Server error: unknown.
With SimpleGallery I'm getteing failed to process server response.

I've installed this on a fresh installation of both v1.4 and v3 and both work. Just dont seem to be able to get it to work on my own.

@Pathologic would you have any idea?

I've disabled plugins to try and narrow it down but it just doesn't seem to want to work.

I've really had all the scenarios, from php version to evo version and different providers... SimpleGallery always worked for me!
I can only think of write permissions for the server (was everything installed?) and or update DocLister!

I can't say anything about SimpleFiles, unfortunately I don't use it! SORRY!

I will double check things with DocLister. I had thought of that but I felt sure I'd given it the correct attention.

It works on a fresh install so I think there is something in my code from over the years.

The fresh and my site are both on the same platform too.

I've tried permissions as much as I can but you may be right.

I think I may have found it. Took some finding:

Disable plugins caching: No (things work)
Disable plugins caching: Yes (I get the server unknown error)

me too, same error if i disable plugins caching: Yes /// CE 3.1.13 and PHP 8.1.10.
I also don't know when and why to make these settings!?
Should I know something like this??

Me either but I'm glad I'm not alone with it failing.

I've always preferred to run uncached. I think it just eliminates any snippet caching issues 😄

I think not. Best to keep the config options on default 😀
